A night of witchy devilry for globetrotting vagabonds

Enter a world where spirits dance, bones rattle, and strange incantations call up the dead. In New York City's most exotic riverfront locale, gyrate to ecstatic global grooves under the full moon and the big top. The fabulous Spiegelworld, closing its 2008 run mere days after Halloween, is now boasting two traveling circus tents--each a mind-bending confection of gleaming mirrors, polished wood and stained glass--as well as a covered riverfront dancefloor, cozy hammock lounge and a 50-foot long outdoor bar, all with breathtaking views of the East River.

The Fabulous Spiegelworld:

The dark magic begins outside with thunderous carnevale drums by Samba Nation, accompanied by mesmerizing samba dancers and astounding capoeira martial artists. The Sugartone Brass Band throws down authentic and exhilarating New Orleans jazz and funk. Then follow us behind the mirrored doors for a transglobal dance party that will usher in the sunrise over the river.

In The Ancestral Tent, GlobeSonic Sound System's Fabian Alsultany and Derek Beres burn up the dance floor with an epic electrorganic globalbeat melting pot of Arabian Beats, Afro-Latino Grooves, Jamaican House and beyond. In The Futur-JuJu Tent, Sub Swara brings the genre-bending bass weight injected with live turntablism + tabla and spanning the spectrum from dubwise depths to floor-crushing bangers.

Parashakti & The Gatekeepers invoke the Magic of the Ancestors; Alchemy Dance Theater mesmerizes with dynamic and sinuous tribal fusion bellydance; astounding aerial artists perform impossible feats twenty feet in the air; and All-Seeing Mystik Painteresse Elyzabeth adorns you with glow-in-the-dark tribal face & body painting.
