Date: March 9th 2018

Hello lovelies,

We are back with our weekly events listings! Sorry again about missing the email last week.

  • Tomorrow! Swing House 10th Anniversary: step into our immersive 1920s speakeasy, with live music, burlesque, gambling, champagne, and dancing. We've gotten a lot of questions about the pay-what-you-wish RSVP list we announced last week as our gift to you, so here are two specific options: 1) the list - everyone has to RSVP on our site to keep things fair (no +1s); the first 50 on the RSVP list to arrive will get the discount; the list will be closed at 100 RSVPs, likely by tonight. 2) guaranteed tickets - we've put up a secret discount on the ticket page: use code "flashsale" to get two-for-one admission, $10 ea.

  • Friday after next, 3.23, The Cocktail Experiment: our now-monthly craft cocktail pop-up with Miss Scorpio and friends behind the bar. Bring a challenge ingredient and see what recipe we come up with on the spot, or just come to escape the crush of weekend bars.

  • In three weeks, Fri 3.30, the return of our Goth vs Kawaii dance party AND a screening of Beetlejuice for its 30th anniversary! We are very excited about this one, and we know some of you have been asking when we'll bring back this theme since we first did it last Halloween.

There are other fun things happening at our loft in this time, too (Jason Webley performing live! Abracadabra dance party! Erotic film screening with pornographer Stoya!). We'll list the G-rated ones on our site, but if you want to be certain to hear of them as soon as they're posted, give a "like" to our official G&S Loft Facebook page and make sure your notifications are on: https://www.facebook.com/gemini.scorpio.loft/events (and if it's the R/X-rated ones you're after, check out the House of Scorpio link in our signature).

Cheers,

Swing House 10th Anniversary: 1920s speakeasy, remixed

Sat, March 10, 9pm-late (dance class 9:30pm), 21+ (25+ recommended) $20 until 12:30am, $10 after for electro-swing dance party Gemini & Scorpio Loft, must RSVP for Gowanus, BK address

Details & RSVP: http://www.geminiandscorpio.com/events.html Tix: http://swinghouse.brownpapertickets.com/ FB: https://www.facebook.com/events/2003073753294992/ Social media: #GSSwingHouse #geminiandscorpio

A classic speakeasy party in a secret Brooklyn loft, with live swingin' sounds by vintage jazz bands, blazing burlesque divas, exotic cocktails, and the best electro-swing DJs remixing and reinventing vintage grooves late into the night. "Gatsby-era fun with a twist of new-school vibe" (The Village Voice).

The night starts with an introductory dance class for swing basics by Brooklyn Swings, who teach at our loft every Monday night. Then a celebratory free champagne toast at 10pm, before we kick off the live entertainment.

Live music until 1am by likely the most-booked band of Swing House's history: Queen Esther and the The Hot Five, playing sultry originals and expert renditions of rare all-American standards from the 1920s-30s. Burlesque fabulousness during and between band sets. Sweet remixed vintage beats after, until the dancing is done.

Plus: the gambling den! A taste of our casino nights, with a poker tournament and a roulette table going till at least 1am. You could win drinks and tickets to future events, and yes, if you have casino credit on file with us, you can use it to play.

Dress code (required): The Jazz Age never ended, it just got funky. Dress accordingly: "An event worth wearing that ridiculous zoot suit for." - TimeOut NY; "Corsets and top hats tweaked with studs and leather are totally appropriate." - The New York Times. Suggestions: vintage (1920s-1940s) with a modern twist, cabaret, burlesque, Weimar Berlin, classic Hollywood, classy, sassy, tailored, hats, feathers, sequins, beads. Effort required. Dress code modern-friendly after 1am for the electro-swing dance party.

The Cocktail Experiment + March Babies Birthday Party

Fri, March 23 (and every fourth Friday), 9pm-2am, FREE admission, 21+ (25+ recommended) Plus: FREE drinks if you bring a cocktail ingredient* $6 per experiment / $17 flight of three / cash only

Gemini & Scorpio Loft, Gowanus, BK Official site & address RSVP: http://www.geminiandscorpio.com/events.html FB: https://www.facebook.com/events/363504674128268/ Social media: @gemini_scorpio / #geminiandscorpio

For the first time ever, we're opening our doors as a craft cocktail lounge on a set monthly schedule. Every fourth Friday, enjoy inventive cocktails in a better-than-bar atmosphere: a sexy low-lit loft, lots of couches, sprawling roof, chill music, serious skills behind the bar, no attitude, no cover. Weekend bars are awful; come hide out here. We'll make you something delicious.

Plus, the Experiment: craft cocktail pop-up meets Iron Chef. One kickass bartender, a fully stocked bar, and YOU bringing a liquid challenge: a bottle of something unusual for our pro to turn into a one-of-a-kind cocktail. If your bottle is used in creation of a cocktail, you and up to three friends get a complimentary round. No two cocktails will be the same, and all will be delicious.

Is your birthday in March? Your first drink is on the house (show us your ID). You can even get in touch to reserve a couch, arrange party favors, etc. For everyone else: free un-birthday treats!

*Tips on bringing ingredients: we welcome both liquor and mixer challenges, but please no basic juices or sodas...that's not what craft cocktails are made of. Consider: half-size bottles, homemade infusions or syrups, that forgotten bottle of weird booze you don't know what to do with, inexpensive amaros, bitters or vermouths. Most importantly, since whatever you brought will be in your free cocktail round, choose flavors you enjoy!
