Date: June 26th 2015

Hello lovelies,

What a week, hooray! Three of our own events in addition to the always-magical Mermaid Parade and Make Music New York. We're going to take it easy for just a short while, but plotting is under way for our next party, the Music Video Time Machine celebration of Weird Science vs Real Genius on July 17. We have most of the night planned, but are still open to crazy suggestions, if you want to participate.

We're plotting other ongoing happenings, as well, including a series of residencies for the loft that would enable particularly innovative and creative projects. If you or anyone you know may have interest in developing something with us, drop us a line. We're not ready to formalize it yet, but are curious what projects or producers out there need a home to experiment in. Anything from theater to lectures to film to puppets to...? You know the sort of offbeat things we love.

Cheers,

An epic anniversary has snuck up on us this summer: in the first week of August, 1985 -- 30 years ago! -- two of the most emblematic 1980s geek movies were released - Weird Science ("Two high school nerds attempt to create the perfect woman, but she turns out to be more than that") & Real Genius ("Teenage geniuses deal with their abilities while developing a laser").

Celebrate with us with an all-classic-MTV-videos dance party featuring the music from and inspired by the two films, 1985, geekery and SCIENCE, curated by Stephen Pitalo, VJ and music video historian. 10pm: 1980s-style trivia game show, Science Genius, that will test your knowledge of the films and 1980s pop culture (must arrive by 9:45pm to participate). Popcorn and lasers; prizes and giveaways; helicopter drone; and a special photo booth.

Suggested dress code: any character from either movie or 1980s heavy metal, mall rat, nerd and beyond.
