Date: February 14th 2014

Hello lovelies,

Since we last emailed you, both our Valentine's events sold out; we released more tickets...and they both sold out again. Here's where ticket sales stand now: - Banya is absolutely packed. We might be able to squeeze in a few door sales just around 9pm, and definitely can do some more at 11pm, but it'll depend on capacity. If you're trying for tickets, please be patient at the door. There will be a line. - We just added more presales for the Paris cabaret. We assume they will go by party time tomorrow, so for guaranteed entry, get yours ASAP. As with Banya, we will have some sales at the door depending on capacity. Your best bet: come right at 9pm or after 12:30am. Can definitely get you in then.

Cheers,

There is a lesson before each dance that focuses on different dance forms, and tips on knowing how to transition between forms during a song. Fusion Dance is a relatively new term for a genre of dance that combines two or more partner dance genres together during the course of a song. Twice a year in fall and spring, individual artists are invited to submit proposals in response to an open call and associated deadline. DOT provides selected artists with a design honorarium in the amount of $2,000 and a materials fee of $500 to cover costs to produce stencils. DOT and NY Cares cover the cost of paint and associated materials. Volunteers from NY Cares and other local organizations assist selected artists with painting the designs on a single Saturday each season. DOT selects sites based upon community requests for beautification. Selected artists are assigned a site in one of the five boroughs. All applicants must submit a conceptual design and examples of past work for consideration. Application deadline is March 7.

PHOTO: Where the Energy Manifests Beauty https://new.sipa.columbia.edu/experience-sipa/events/new-york-where-the-energy-manifests-beauty An exhibition of 22 photographs by Alexander Movshovich curated by Regina Khidekel. These are bold images of New York City--places we probably never visit, and likely would have a hard time finding. Old bridges, railway arches and building towers are mixed with a cunning array of panoramic images of the Manhattan skyline, and a whimsical appearance of the Verrazano Bridge drowned in the fog. The cascade of images reveals to us the interplay between urban texture, light, clouds, water and snow; a glimpse of a city we rarely see.
