Date: August 28th 2010

Hello lovelies,

OK, then - listings, part 2. Incomplete, of course, but it's the best we can do with one foot in the dust :)

As we said in the last email, we're off the grid till 9/9.

That means: no reminders about tickets selling out for our pirate boat party on 9/11 until it may be too late. The last boat sold out a few days before the event. Please please don't miss out if you want to join us for one of these amazing dance party sails. Info below.

Also below: our makeout party, hosted via the "adult" sister brand House of Scorpio. We'll be sending you those notices via this list sporadically -- but HoS is really a separate entity, and its own list. Get on that if you want to be fully in the loop in the future.

Cheers,

Gemini & Scorpio

TALK: The Body at Blythe
http://observatoryroom.org/2010/08/23/blythe
Join Lisa O'Sullivan, Senior Curator of Medicine at the Science Museum, London for a behind-the-scenes look at the Museum stores. As is the case for many large museums, only about 5% of the Science Museum's objects are ever on display. This is an opportunity to see some of the other 95% - as photographed by Morbid Anatomy's Joanna Ebenstein on a recent visit. The Museum's ‘small objects', all 203,000 of them, are stored at Blythe house. Over 100,000 of these artefacts are medical, the majority from the Wellcome collection: over 30 rooms hold objects from Roman votives to mediaeval saints, x-ray machines, etc. Lisa will conduct a virtual tour of some of the rooms, highlight some of her – anatomical – favourites amongst the objects, and take questions about life ‘backstage' at the Museum. Lisa O'Sullivan curates the Wellcome collections for the Museum. She is responsible for the anatomical collections, and all issues relating to human remains in the museum. (Observatory, 543 Un
ion St, enter through Proteus Gowanus off Nevins, 8pm, $5)
