.:: 07.07.08 - The "Swing House" monthly party series has been a dazzling vintage-themed success. Join us for the very last Swing House of the summer, as we take a much-neded break until fall.
.:: 03.01.08 - Based on the smash success of our VDay event, we're launching Swing House, a stylish vintage-themed monthly dance party, with swingin' sounds from the early 20th century (ragtime! hot jazz! swing!) played live and in DJ sets mixed with sizzling electronica. Add in burlesque, costumes, dancers, fire spinning and other unpredictable eye-popping goodness, and you have a signature G&S party, for the first time in a monthly format. Our first event, Sat 3/22, will be another full-club happening at Galapagos, with two distinct rooms of music & dancing. Future dates: 4/26, 5/24, 6/21, 7/26. RSVP now!
.:: 01.25.08 - Seems hard to believe, but we're celebrating our 5th Anniversary Valentine's Day Party. Of course, we are going over the top with this one: the party is called "Roaring 20th," and it's a trip through the 20th century and beyond through live music, film, burlesque, dance and performance art. About us and this site
We are Gemini and Scorpio, your fearless dating guides and advice-givers in the world of online dating. We're two 20-something, fabulous single NYC women and self-made queens of Internet dating. We are a killer angel/devil, writer/artist duo that has been navigating the online personals scene for the past five years. We have done them all (at least, Miss Scorpio has, ahem) and have stories to tell about each one. And now we are looking to share our hard-earned knowledge with others. (And to party with them, while we're at it.)
Our mission: to share our totally biased and utterly helpful advice on online dating--and to help whip your single life into something that will make your conscience blush, your inner angel gasp and your neighbors buy binoculars.
Our other mission: to unite, online and off, a community of unique, intelligent and vibrant thinkers as an alternative for connections to the tired bar scene, VIP parties and gimmicky singles events. This network is NOT singles-only. We don't believe in the frantic chase for "the one." We believe in creating a real community where unique creative types (artists, designers, writers, photographers, performers, musicians, tech geeks) can network and play together. After all, even if you are dating someone (or many someones), you don't lose that fabulous identity you worked so long to develop when you were single. And hey, couples have single friends, too.
We have many friends in the underground arts and vibrant nightlife scene. To fulfill our goal of supporting community, we will do our best each week to bring you a fresh sampling of their events, as well as hosting our own gatherings from time to time. As for our guide, it is so much more than your average dry computer manual or a version of "The Rules" for the cyberspace. We're a classic bad girl/good girl duo.
